Prima Princessa Sleeping Beauty DVD Review...

"The producers of the “Prima Princessa” DVD series, Stephanie Troeller and Mary Kate Mellow, are both mothers of dance loving daughters, who were the original source of inspiration for the series. Each DVD in the series has the cartoon fairy ballerina Prima Princessa escort a group of pre-schoolers on a magical journey to see a live performance of a classic storybook ballet, delightfully narrated so children may fully understand the plot. Between acts, they return home and in fun colorful montages of toys, animals, and kids, they learn ballet steps from students at the School of American Ballet, the official academy of the New York City Ballet."

What we thought:  5 year old A LOVES to dance.  One of her favorite things to do is put on her tutu and ballet slippers and pretend to be Prima Ballerina:)  I knew this DVD would be a hit with her!  What surprised me is how much she actually learned from the DVD.  It not only shows even the youngest ballerinas basic ballet steps, but exposes them to fully costumed live action ballet as well which A really loved!  It was a great way for her to learn how dance can tell a story.  The ballet steps are taught by students and little girls just like A which makes learning the steps a lot of fun.  Even little brother got in on the action practicing his ballet moves...they tell me they are ready to learn a lift:)  This DVD is a great way to get little ones up and moving and interested in dance.  ABCD Diaries gives Prima Princessa "Sleeping Beauty" an A+!
